Escape on a remote romantic getaway to paradise on Earth

Ever dreamt of escaping into the middle of nowhere for some quality time with your one and only? Once you have found that one special someone, it is not unlikely that you would want to spend all the time you possibly can in his or her company. A honeymoon is no exception to the rule.

 romance in st lucia

The concept of the honeymoon, dating back to the 16th century, originates in the idea that the period just after the wedding is a time when things are at their sweetest. This is the time for every newlywed couple to take a break from everyday life and travel off into paradise to build the foundation of a relationship that will create memories of a lifetime. This is a journey where the focus should be on the two of you, together, where privacy, along with communication, are key to any successful relationship.

Now, the cliché reads that the most popular honeymoon destinations have always been, and seems to continue to be, the romantic cities of Italy and the French Riviera. But, why would you want to have hundreds of other hysterical tourists and romance-seeking newlyweds around you when instead you could head out into the rejuvenating atmosphere of a remote and peaceful rainforest? Imagine waking up to a gourmet breakfast in the refreshing ocean breeze, spending the wake hours exploring nature, relaxing by the pool and indulging in soothing massages before ending the day strolling along a deserted beach into the sunset.

Sounds tempting? Steer your Google searches toward the coast of Far North Queensland in Australia and you will find exactly what you are looking for. Here, by the shore of the Daintree Rainforest lie the secluded luxury accommodations of Bloomfield Lodge. Whether you dream of an adventure in the depths of the jungle, if you thrive while floating around on the openness of the magnificent ocean, or if you crave nothing more than peace of mind in the company of your loved one, a place like this has all of that and more right outside your doorstep.

What is even more spectacular about this type of honeymoon destinations is that most take part in the ecotourism initiative. Here, the focus is on practicing environmentally sustainable activities while promoting personal growth and self-awareness. It is about appreciating what we have and making the best out of it. What more could you need to create the honeymoon of your dreams?

Relax at the Mexican spa resort of Puerto Vallarta

If you’re planning a really relaxing getaway to sunny climes, think about heading to Puerto Vallarta – Mexico’s top spa resort. The city is located in the state of Jalisco and is known for its friendly welcome and laidback ambience.

Relaxing is much easier when there’s a beach nearby, and Puerta Vallarta doesn’t disappoint. There are numerous sandy stretches to lie back on when you’re not soothing your muscles in the spa. Keep reading for a guide to relaxing in Puerto Vallarta.

Visit the spas

There are so many spas in Puerto Vallarta that the city is known as a balneario resort, which in Spanish means a seaside spa town. There are plenty to choose from, whether you’re looking for a grand, opulent setting in which to feel pampered, or something small and friendly. Of course, which spas you choose to visit will depend on whereabouts you’re based and how much cash you want to spend.

If money is no object, the elegant facilities of Velas Vallarta might be right up your street. Lavishly finished in marble and teak, the vast centre boasts whirlpools, steam rooms, a plunge lagoon and 20 treatment rooms where you can have a hot stones massage, a volcanic mud wrap or a deep cleansing facial.

Holidaymakers travelling with children can also be pampered, as some of the local spas offer childcare facilities. Punta Mita Apuane Spa is one such centre, and you can leave the children at the kids’ club here while enjoying some quality time with your partner having a chocolate scrub and sipping champagne.

Hit the beach

Arguably the most famous strip of sand in the area, Los Muertos Beach is located at the end of the Malecon and frequented by loved-up couples as well as families. There are plenty of amenities nearby, including restaurants and galleries.

A particularly picturesque beach is Conchas Chinas, which is just south of the city. The shore here is all that separates the sea from the mountains and vegetation it backs on to, and the water is crystal clear.

Head to Majahuitas Beach to relax on some white sand and admire the surrounding jungle scenery, or make your way to Cabo Corrientes – another secluded spot where you can get close to nature. The latter is an important area for the release of sea turtles as part of local conservation efforts.

Try some relaxing activities

As well as spending time on the beach and in treatment rooms, you can make the most of your stay in Puerto Vallarta by experiencing some of the relaxing activities offered here. Meditation and yoga are among the most popular pastimes you can get involved in during your stay here.

It’s worth doing a bit of research before you set off on holiday if you want to locate a yoga tutor or find a holistic centre before you arrive. Of course, there are also many other pastimes you can have a go at if getting active is how you like to relax.

There are a couple of golf clubs located in Puerto Vallarta, and you can also try your hand at more adventurous sports like scuba diving and parasailing. Whale watching, hiking and bird-spotting are all activities that can help you unwind and connect with the natural beauty of the local area.
