Great Things To Do At Neemrana Fort

A trip to Neemrana Fort is a fantastic idea for people that would like a quick getaway from Delhi. My family and I decided to have a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the capital city, it was one of the best decisions we made on our trip!

The palace and fort that you will discover in Neemrana make the whole journey worthwhile. Neemrana is located a little over 100 kilometers from Delhi making it easy to reach in just a couple of hours, you can either hire a private taxi or hop on any of the local buses – I would recommend asking the concierge at your Delhi hotel for the most convenient mode of transport.

Over recent years Neemrana has become a bit of an industrial hub, that should not put you off visiting because there are still plenty of things to see and do on your visit. Here are 3 of the best things we discovered on our weekend break.

Neemrana Fort

The Neemrana Fort Palace is without doubt the most famous landmark in the ancient town. It was constructed way back in the 15th century on a hill overlooking the town – the Chauhan Royal Family lived here right up until the 1940s. Since the royal family departed the fort it has been turned into a spectacular hotel, if you’re looking for a touch of class then it’s the place you should stay. We spent two nights there, when we weren’t enjoying the amazing facilities at the hotel we spent hours strolling around the fort. Despite its age the fort has been well maintained and there’s plenty for you to discover.

Go on a safari

Yes, that’s right, you can go on a safari during your stay at Neemrana Fort. You’ll have to travel a little over two hours to reach the National park of Sariska, but it is certainly worth the trip. The reserve and national park lay on a huge piece of land, our guide told us that it was around nine hundred square kilometers in size, so there’s plenty for you to explore. It’s safe to say that our highlight was seeing the tigers in their natural habitat, you’ll also see chital and peacocks.

Zip through the fort

If you’re feeling adventurous and you’re not too scared of heights then a great activity is to zip line through Neemrana Fort. As mentioned above, the Fort is vast so you’ll spend around two hours zipping through the place – some lines run over 400 meters and you’ll hit speeds of upto 35 kilometers per hour. It’s not for the faint hearted, so if any of your group don’t want to give it a go then they can always lounge by the pool in peace.
