The Best Things To Do In Chester

If you look at the map of the UK, you will find Chester sitting on the border between England and Wales. It is a city steeped in History and dates back as far as AD 70 when the Romans were in town.

I absolutely love the place because there’s so much to see and do. You have history and wildlife all on offer. So if you’re with one of the Chester Escorts, here’s what I recommend you check out.

The Groves

The promenade that runs from Lower Bridge Street all the way down to Grosvenor Park is known as The Groves. I would go as far as saying that this is the most photogenic place in Chester. If you’re looking for that profile pic then head to Queen’s Park Suspension Bridge. Strolling along here with your date is always a good ides, because you’ll get some fantastic views of the Queen’s Park area and walk under the shade of many a lime tree. If you feel a little parched you can always stop in at a lovely waterside cafe or bar.

Chester Rows

Chester Rows are a beautiful collection of timber galleries in the centre of the old part of town. I don’t think you’ll find anywhere quite like it in the world. They date all the way back to the 1290’s and it is believed that they were constructed to maximise the amount of space there was for shopping in the centre of the city. Head to 48 Bridge Street, this where many historians believe the oldest shop front in the country can be found.

Chester Zoo

Chester zoo is one of the best zoos out there, not only in England but on the planet! Your date will absolutely love it here. The place is mind blowingly huge and full of animals – spaced across 125 acres with over 20,000 animals, you’ll find it hard not to have a good time here. Funding flows in to this special place each year, multi million pound funding, to ensure that it keeps on improving. Visitors love it because it’s a zoo without barriers, instead they go with natural bars such as ditches and moats to make sure the animals stay.
